Study/Work Abroad

Most study and work abroad programs are managed and operated by the Office of International Education and the Work Abroad Office. However, Modern Languages collaborates with OIE and Work Abroad to support the Georgia Tech-TU Munich-Siemens program, a signature program that offers students unique opportunites to combine study with work, and the JAPAN Internship Program. See the Work Abroad Office for more details on Siemens and other German companies. Modern Languages recommends a semester of study at TU Munich prior to the internship period with a German company. Visit the GIT-TUM page for an overview of the program. With support from Siemens, a modest scholarship, usually about $500, may be available for students who study and work in German. For details on available scholarships, please check with Prof. Cothran.

The Japan internships typically run for either six or twelve months, including with many major companies like NTT, Toshiba and Panasonic. Visit the JAPAN INTERNSHIP PROGAM page to learn more about working in Japan and then make an appointment with Debbie Donohue in the Work Abroad Office. Recruiting begins in September and an announcement will be made in Japanese classes. Two information sessions will take place in September. Students selected will be notified in December. All majors are welcome.
