German Day 2024 Showcases Student Experiences and Opportunities in Global Careers

Posted March 8, 2024

The German program in the School of Modern Languages recently hosted German Day 2024, an annual event that builds bridges between Georgia Tech students studying German and the German-speaking community in metro Atlanta and beyond.

More than 70 students and guests were in attendance at the Feb. 15 event. Current students shared their experiences studying and interning in Germany, and attendees learned about exciting global career pathways for German minors or majors.

Friends and partners of the German Program, including representatives from the Consul General of Germany, the Consul General of Switzerland, the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Porsche Cars North America, the German Cultural Center (Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta), and The Culture Mastery, LLC training program, spoke to the relevance of linguistic and intercultural competence in professional life.

Guests also visited information and registration tables for the Office of International Education, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Georgia Tech German Club.

Each year, German Day also celebrates the generous supporters who make it possible for students to have transformative learning experiences abroad and to pursue M.S. studies through the Spurlock Study Abroad Scholarships, the Halle Foundation Scholarships, and the Dr. Bettina F. Cothran Study Abroad Scholarship.

The event concluded with a networking reception where students and friends of the German Program connected and strengthened the German-American community at Georgia Tech and surrounding areas.
