Health Care Industry/EU Program in Cádiz, Spain

THE CADIZ PROGRAM WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN 2012

From May 29 to June 30, 2011, Dr. Labarca offers a second program in Spain recommended for Pre-Med, Biology, Biochemistry and Bio-Engineering students desiring to study the Health Industry in Spain and the EU as well as colloquial Medical Spanish. Students interested in health systems, public policy, hospital management, and medical equipment design can also acquire cross-cultural and professional linguistic skills in Cádiz.  Earn six/nine credits towards your IP, a major, or a minor, or couple this program with Madrid LBAT for a fuller European experience. Learn about healthcare and immigration issues facing Spain and the European Union. Visit area companies and government entities. Study for four weeks in the cradle of flamenco dance and music, Cádiz, and experience life near the Strait of Gibraltar first-hand. Then travel to the heart of Moorish culture in Granada, Seville, and Cordoba, and to Madrid. See complete details at Study/Work Abroad for Cádiz. Students may combine Madrid with Cádiz for a total fee $11,100.

Georgia Tech Fees

Tuition and fees are not included in the program fee; scholarships and loans apply. Students participating in both the Cadiz and Madrid programs pay one full-time tuition + fees and one round-trip airfare.
**Non-residents pay in-state tuition and fees, plus a $250 fee.

Cádiz only: $6,200

You must also contact the Office of International Education (OIE) for your required Study Abroad application which can be filled out online, information on eligibility, financial aid, secure travel, evacuation and repatriation insurance, health concerns, orientation sessions, and transient student application packages for students from institutions other than Georgia Tech.

Payment Deadlines and Information for Càdiz

December 3, 2010: $2,000 deposit for housing by 4pm 
February 4, 2011: $2,000 by 4pm
April 8, 2011: balance by 4pm 
Application and drop-out deadline: March 1, 2011.

* Please adhere to the deadlines stated for the program. Please observe the information in Payment Options to ensure that your payments are processed at the Bursar’s Office on time. Fees will be charged to your Oscar account on the due dates.  Make sure you make all necessary payments on time in order to avoid a hold on your account. Students expecting financial aid must submit a letter from the Financial Aid Office stating the allocation and date of payments expected. Tuition and student fees are due according to the Registrar’s schedule for summer tuition.

Students who (with the Program Director’s approval) apply and register for Study Abroad programs after the deadlines are responsible for Program Fee payments according to the original deadlines at the time of application or at the time of the applicant's acceptance.

Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid. Georgia Tech students may apply to the Program Director for the Modern Languages' Campoamor scholarship (appr. $400). HOPE scholarship does apply.

Program descriptions and fees are subject to final approval by educational units and the Office of International Education. Georgia Tech reserves the right to alter or cancel this program due to low enrollment, unavailability of a professor to teach a planned course, or other unforeseen circumstances. Once Georgia Tech has made payments to service providers, or if Georgia Tech cancels the program before departure or while the program is in progress for reasons beyond its control, such as political unrest or danger to participants' safety, only those fees that Georgia Tech is able to have refunded by service providers will be returned to participants. If a student withdraws from the program, the student will be responsible for the payment of all fees.
