Here are some general rules of thumb:

  • AP scores of 4 or 5 will place a student beyond 2002 (with 6 hours of credit).
  • 1-2 years in HS will usually place a student into 1001, sometimes 1002. For Spanish, it will be 1101 (a course designed for students with HS Spanish that didn’t really prepare them completely for 2nd year)
  • 2-3 years = 1002 or 2001
  • 3-4+ years without AP = 2001 or 2002
