The Campoamor Scholarship for Study Abroad

The Campoamor Scholarships are named in honor of Dr. Joseph A. Campoamor, former professor and chairman of Modern Languages, who provided in his will for a trust fund “to provide loans and scholarships for worthy students of Georgia Tech.” These scholarships are only awarded to participants in the LBAT programs.

Criteria for Outstanding Senior Award

The School of Modern Languages outstanding senior awardees receive an individual plaque and have thier names inscribed in the plaque permanetly located in the student lounge of the Swann Building.

The outstanding senior should fulfill some or all of the following:

  • have outstanding grades
  • have an outstanding portfolio
  • demonstrate enthusiasm for her/his chosen field, including the language and culture aspect
  • have excelled in some other demonstrable way (e.g. been an outstanding German Club president etc.)
  • should have taken a variety of courses and display a variety of extra curricular experiences.
  • show sustained effort to enrich own language experience in the form of extracurricular or community activity, membership in organizations, participation in events such as festivals and celebrations, volunteerism, support given to course activities or materials production for a language class or program.
  • show ability to organize and lead extracurricular or course activities meant to increase exposure to the language.
