Dr. Masato Kikuchi is Associate Professor of Japanese in the School of Modern Languages. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh where his research focused on the areas of application of natural language processing techniques such as development and evaluation of intelligent computer-assisted language instruction, discourse/pragmatics processing, and psycholinguistics. He was the Assistant Director of a research project which developed Macintosh-based computer programs called "Understanding Written Japanese" at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently a co-director of summer, intensive study abroad program (Language for Business and Technology) and working on the project involving translation of technical and business documents.
