Are Online Courses right for you?

Differences & Similarities of an Online Course with a Regular Course

  • Courses provide equivalent content of regular classes.
  • There are regular online class periods (virtual classroom) in which you practice speaking with a live instructor via a microphone-headset and “meet” your classmates.
  • All content is provided online including multimedia materials and interactive exercises. No textbooks.

Online Courses are right for you if the following are true:

  • I can understand English. All students are expected to understand instruction (grammar explanation, logistics, scheduling, computer-related instruction, etc.) in English.
  • I have high-speed access to the Internet.
  • I am comfortable using a computer in communicating with instructors/peers.
  • I can follow a course schedule responsibly and attend online class activities without being told.
  • I check email on a regular basis (at least once a day).
  • I can work independently on course requirements.
