Spanish LBAT

Mexico City, Mexico & Madrid, Spain

Study for six weeks in the world's largest city, Mexico City, and experience the voices of ancient civilizations merging with the bustle of commerce. Then travel to the heart of Spain for four weeks of study in Madrid, a capital famous for its nightlife. Immerse yourself in the cultures of two different worlds united by the same language.

  • Earn 15 semester credit hours at the 3000 level and a certificate in Spanish for Business and Technology, credit hours towards a Spanish Minor, IAML or GEML major or in partial fulfillment of the International Plan study-abroad requirement.
  • Learn about current issues facing Spain in the European Union, and Mexico in its U.S. partnership through NAFTA.
  • Visit area businesses in both Mexico City and Madrid.
  • Experience a varied cultural program including excursions to the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan and the colonial city of Puebla in Mexico; Toledo and Analucia in Spain.
Prerequisites: SPAN 2000 level and good academic standing (this program is conducted in Spanish)

Complete 2008 program cost (estimated): $7,995. Credit cards (Visa, MC) and webchecks are accepted for online payment directly to the Bursar’s Office.

Tuition, Other Fees: Tuition is regular Georgia Tech tuition rate plus a $250 (total, not per credit hour) supplement for non-resident students. Georgia Tech also requires payment of a $160 Technology Fee. Application fee: $200 (non-refundable), payable immediately on application to the program.

Program descriptions and fees subject to final approval by educational units and the Office of International Education. Georgia Tech reserves the right to alter or cancel this program due to low enrollment, unavailability of a professor to teach a planned course, or other unforeseen circumstances. If Georgia Tech cancels the program before departure or while the program is in progress for reasons beyond its control, such as political unrest or danger to participants' safety, only those fees that Georgia Tech is able to have refunded by service providers will be returned to participants. If a student withdraws or is excluded from the program, the student will be responsible for the payment of all fees that cannot be refunded by service providers.
