Russian Studies

The minor and certificate programs in Russian Studies are designed for students who wish to develop their language skills to at least an intermediate level and offer an interdisciplinary approach to the language, literature, culture and politics of Russia.

• Students pursuing the minor must earn eighteen credit hours of electives in Russian Studies beyond the level of the 2001 course. Courses that will count toward the minor will be approved by advisors. The standard track would include RUSS 2002, third-year Russian I and II and 9 hours of upper divisional electives in language or area studies in at least 2 different Schools (for example, International Affairs and Literature, Communication, and Culture).
  
• To receive the certificate, students must take twelve semester hours of courses beyond the 2001 level.
  
• All courses counting toward a minor and certficiate must be taken on letter grade basis, and a grade of C or better must be received in each course.
  

The Russian program at Georgia Tech is pleased to announce that we are now offering a Certificate and Minor in Russian Studies.

Electives for the Minor and Certificate currently include Russian 3803 (Special Topics, The Russian 20th Century in Literature and Film), INTA 3121 (Russia and Eurasia), and LCC 4406 (The Global Learning Project), as well as special problems courses, and should be taken in at least 2 different departments.

The School of Modern Languages anticipates having summer, semester and year-long study abroad programs in Russia established by Summer, 2006, and courses taken in these programs will also count toward the Minor and Certificate.
