Internships in Japan

Current Programs

More about JETRO

JETRO internship opportunities are for 3 months to a year (commonly 6 months) in Japan starting around April or May (negotiable). The application period starts in September and ends in October every year. GT gets the application information from JETRO in September every year. When it comes in, we make an announcement for the initial informational meetings. The announcement is emailed to those who have signed up for these opportunities in the Internship Event. The announcement is also made here on the ML Website as well as in Japanese classes. During the informational meeting, we explain how to apply online and sign up for screening interviews conducted by Japanese faculty. Applicants must also submit a resume, a recommendation letter, and transcripts. We then process the applications and pass them onto JETRO. Students can submit more than one application and the first-round matching between Japanese companies and students begins. Note that GT students are competing among applicants from other institutions in the US. When matches are made, the applicants are notified (typically by late November or early December) and have a chance to decide to take the offer or not. If no matching takes place during this period, the applicants have a choice to go for a second-round matching which is completed by the end of December.
