Welcome

Hello and welcome to the website of the Ivan Allen School of Modern Languages at Georgia Tech. The School of Modern Languages collaborates as an interdisciplinary partner with other units in the Ivan Allen College and across campus to prepare future participants in the global workforce through applied studies in foreign languages and intercultural sudies that are designed to develop advanced communication skills, promote creative thinking, open access to intercultural understanding and develop professional competency in the language students select as their window to the world.

We have established bridges between the languages we teach and engineering and technology units at Georgia Tech by integrating into our programs the kind of professional and social language you would expect to use after entering the workforce. At the same time we offer an opportunity to develop a broad understanding of culture and literature, and of daily life in the countries whose languages we teach. We have developed programs in China, France, Germany, Korea, Japan and Latin America or Spain that include language immersion, a semester of study in engineering, computer science, etc., and followed by an internship in the same country. This program works exceptionally well with Georgia Tech's International Plan.

Our signature summer program in Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) is highlighted on our website and we encourage you to look into this program and to contact us about how to apply and to expand your international skills even more with an internship abroad.
